queen of nerdland {melissa harris perry}
if you haven't had the privilege of watching melissa harris perry on the mhp show (msnbc weekend mornings from 10-noon), i suggest you correct that immediately. there is no other show that can properly address various important issues like social injustice, the politics of black hair, hip-hop, washington drama and t.v obsessions (like scandal & orange is the new black) so seamlessly and intelligently. there is no other program that showcases such bright, eloquent, thoughtful beautiful black and brown women from congresswomen to poets to activists/single moms who need to be heard.
besides the awesome show, melissa, herself, is just a phenomenal (and busy) woman. she, simultaneously, teaches and inspires at tulane university in new orleans and is a mom to two blessed black girls. melissa harris perry is the epitome of black excellence if i ever saw one.. what's not to love??
p.s- just completed her informative book, sister citizen and i'm not even surprised at how blown away i am. add it your libraries, asap!!!!
